We’re delighted to start the blog today with a note that entries have been flooding in for the Triathlon over the last few days. The event is almost half full now so, please don’t delay, get your entry in today!
If you’ve already entered, there’s also plenty of incentive to kick-start your fundraising with the announcement of our headline fundraising prizes (see below).
We have plenty going on at Green Park over the next week or so:
Start of the Official Training Sessions
On Tuesday (28th January) at 12:15pm our Official Green Park Triathlon training sessions will be kicking off at Nuffield Health. The sessions will be led by British Triathlon Federation Coach, Dom Dos Remedios, and this Tuesday will see a fitness boosting cycle session in the Spin Studio.
All future sessions will take place on Tuesdays from 12:15pm to 1:00pm. The cycling sessions will be on 28th January, 11th February, 25th February and 11th March, and the swimming sessions will take place on 4th February, 18th February, 4th March and 18th March.
Please pop the dates in your diaries. Many thanks must go to the wonderful Nuffield Health for throwing open their doors for the training sessions. Thanks guys! Green Park Triathlon competitors will also have use of the gym, free-of-charge from 1st February, to train for the event.
On a related note, it is very important that the swimming time you submit on registration is an accurate reflection of your ability, the more precise, the better. The reason for this is that, on the day of the event, you’ll be placed in a lane with similarly speedy swimmers – it could be a lot less fun if you’re swimming with people too fast or too slow for you.
If you’re unsure, please attend one of our official training sessions where we will be able to time you swimming your event distance, or alternatively pop into Nuffield Health separately to time yourself. Please contact us at email@example.com, if you’d like to change a time you have already submitted on registration.
We have already begun visits to a number of the buildings on Green Park, including Nuffield Health, PRA International and Cisco this week. We’ll be visiting a number of other companies in the next seven days including Oracle (Tuesday), Quintiles (Wednesday) and the Conference Centre at 100 Longwater Avenue (Thursday). If you have any questions to do with the triathlon or would like to chat to our enthusiastic and knowledgable team, please come and say hi.
Green Park Triathlon Prizes
Right, the news you’ve all been waiting for! The Green Park Triathlon organising committee are pleased to announce a few of the prizes that will be awarded to competitors and fundraisers this year. Highlights (so far) are as follows:
Firstly, the Top TWO Individual Fundraisers will win an Apple iPad.
Secondly, EVERY COMPETITOR who raises more the £100 minimum fundraising target will be entered into a raffle to win one of two Apple iPads. For every, £100 raised, you’ll be allocated one additional ticket for the raffle (so if you raise £500, you’ll be allocated 5 tickets). This all means you don’t have to raise £1000s of pounds to be in with a chance of a big Green Park Triathlon prize. All you need to do is raise £100 for Sport Relief. So, please start tapping up friends, family and colleagues for their small change. It can make a big difference to many worthy causes Sport Relief supports. (Please note: only one Apple iPad prize will be awarded per individual.)
A massive thanks must go to our sponsors PRA International and EOS Unified Solutions who have each donated two iPads.
Thirdly, the fastest competitors will be awarded a bottle of Champagne – as is now the tradition at the Green Park Triathlon – so every incentive to lace up your running shoes or dust off that bike and start your training this weekend.
More fabulous prizes will be announced in the near future (including the prizes for the Top Team Fundraisers) so please keep an eye on future blogs.
If your company is interested in sponsoring a prize, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Green Park Triathlon Post-Event Prize-Giving Ceremony
This year, unlike in previous years, we’ve decided to hold the post-event Prize Giving Ceremony, one week after the event. This will now be held at Zest in Lime Square on Wednesday 26th March. This is to give us extra time to get all of the fundraising monies in, to allow us to properly allocate the fantastic fundraising prizes we have this year. Please put the date in your diaries.
Well, that’s it for the blog this week. Best of luck with your training and fundraising over the next few days and, if you haven’t entered yet, what are you waiting for?! Commit to Get Fit with an entry into the Green Park Triathlon 2014!!
All the best!
The Green Park Triathlon Team.
